APA-Abidjan (Cote d’Ivoire) Journalist and TV host Awa Ehoura Tabitha passed away on the night of Wednesday, July 5, 2023, after a protracted illness, in Abidjan, according to her close associates.
Her death has sent shockwaves across Ivorian social media circles.
Terminally ill with diabetes, Awa Ehoura, a former journalist with the state-owned Radiodiffusion Television Ivoirienne (RTI), had become much weaker in recent months.
Ms. Ehoura started out in the audiovisual world at TV2 in the early 1990s and went on to become director of La Premiere and special communications advisor to former Ivorian president Laurent Gbagbo.
As presenter of the 1 p.m. and 8 p.m. news, she had a perfect command of the French language.
At the height of the 2010-2011 post-electoral crisis in Cote d’Ivoire, Awa Ehoura was host of the TV program “Raison d’Etat.”
