This was because Ghana’s Tax to GDP ratio was far below the average of 20 percent, the normal ratio for lower middle income countries, which Ghana is one.
The Business and Financial Times reports that the performance of the tax sector to the economy was not the best for a lower level middle income country.
It said the Minister of Finance, Mr. Ken Ofori Atta, who made this known, challenged the GRA to meet its tax obligations to enable the government to achieve its Ghana beyond aid agenda.
