The Daily Graphic and Ghanaian Times reported that President Akufo-Addo assured the various business groups that raised concerns about the high import duties that are crippling their businesses.
“We have realised, from the studies we have done, that our ports are not competitive and that the import regime in our country is far too high. We are dealing with it, and very soon the measures that the government will roll out will become known to all of you. I am not talking about next year, or next six months. I am talking very, very soon,” President Akufo-Addo said.
He gave this assurance during his tour of the United States of America.
His assurance followed the meeting of the Council of State in March this year with the President to discuss high rates of levies and taxes imposed on imported goods at the Ghanaian ports.
