The Daily Graphic reports that the use of the Information Communication gadgets by the police will help improve on crime monitoring across the various major roads and some vital installations.
The move is also to help address the shortfall in police population as Ghana’s ratio of one police to 900, which is way beyond the UN accepted ratio of one police to 500 people.
The Inspector General of Police, Mr. David Asante-Apeatu, was reported to have said that his administration was “managing crime with technology” as it deployed about 1,000 cameras throughout the country, adding that Ghanaians should know they are being watched every step of the way.
The newspaper said some of the cameras have been installed at traffic intersections and border posts and key national installations.
The Ghanaian Times for its part, says, President Nana Akufo-Addo has assured Ghanaians that his administration would strive to maintain fiscal deficit as the country exits the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Extended Credit Facility (ECF) programme this year.
