The Ghanaian Times reports that the NPP has invited the NDC to discuss ways to clamp down on the growing concern of political vigilantism rearing its ugly head in the country.
A letter signed by the General Secretary of the party, John Boadu, and addressed to the National Chairman of the NDC, Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, in Accra, stated that the NPP was aware of the NDC’s request to expand the scope of engagement to include multiple stakeholders.
He therefore assured that his party (NPP) was ready engage with the NDC first and the various other stakeholders invited later to the meetings.
The letter was drafted on the request of President Nana Akufo-Addo, calling for a collaboration between the two dominant parties to find lasting solutions to political vigilantism, a phenomenon they introduced that is gradually eating into the political fabric negatively.
“We think that the time is rife for the parties to hold this crucial meeting, which the nation has been looking forward to,” the letter said, adding that the chairmen of the two parties have been talking behind the scenes for some time towards the same meeting.
