APA-Rabat (Morocco) Preliminary investigations suggest the involvement of criminal syndicates specialising in human trafficking, using false job contracts with international e-commerce companies to lure victims.
The king’s public prosecutor at the Casablanca Court of Appeal has decided to open a judicial enquiry entrusted to the National Judicial Police Brigade (BNPJ) following the kidnapping of Moroccan nationals by criminal gangs operating in Myanmar, near the border with Thailand.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Attorney General stated that the victims and their families who had lodged complaints had been heard.
The preliminary investigations revealed the involvement of criminal networks specialising in human trafficking, luring their victims with bogus work contracts with international e-commerce companies, then kidnapping and exploiting them in difficult conditions.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office has called for caution in the face of recruitment attempts via the internet and through intermediaries, and has stated that it is closely monitoring the investigations being carried out by the relevant departments with a view to apprehending the suspects and taking the necessary legal measures against them.
