In anticipation of the relaunch of the direct Casablanca-Beijing route on January 20, 2025, Royal Air Maroc (RAM) has recently signed 16 agreements with Chinese travel agencies during a ceremony held in Beijing on Wednesday, December 18.
RAM initially launched its direct Casablanca-Beijing service on January 16, 2020, but the route was suspended a few weeks later due to the health crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The agreements aim to secure long-term seat allocations to ensure high occupancy rates and strengthen partnerships with Chinese agencies.
This initiative addresses the growing demand from Chinese travelers for Morocco as a destination, according to Abderrahman Brahimi, RAM’s Director for Morocco, Maghreb, Middle East, and Asia.
The route will operate three times a week, departing from Casablanca on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, and from Beijing on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, using Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft with 302 seats.
This relaunch is part of RAM’s strategic plan for 2024-2037, aimed at enhancing exchanges between Morocco and China.
In the long term, the airline plans to increase flight frequencies to Beijing and expand its network to other Chinese metropolises like Shanghai and Guangzhou.
Morocco’s Ambassador to China, Abdelkader El Ansari, emphasised that this direct air link aligns with the bilateral agreements established during King Mohammed VI’s historic visit to China in 2016.
It contributes to the growing dynamic of Sino-Moroccan relations in economic, cultural, and human aspects, while positioning Casablanca as a strategic hub between Asia, Europe, and Africa.
