APA-Pretoria (South Africa) South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has appointed judges to the Supreme Court of Appeal, the Gauteng High Court, the KwaZulu-Natal High Court, the Labour Court and the Labour Appeals Court to fill existing vacancies, the presidency has announced.
Making the announcement on Tuesday, the president’s office said Ramaphosa had appointed Fayeeza Kathree-Setiloane and Anna Maleshane Kgoele as judges of the Supreme Court of Appeal with effect from 1 December 2023 to fill the vacancies.
The Presidency said Ramaphosa had also appointed Soraya Khatija Hassim, Omphemetse Mooki, Jacobus Johannes Strijdom, and Brad Christopher Wanless as judges of the Gauteng High Court with effect from 1 January 2024.
Mbuzeni Johnson Mathenjwa got the nod for KwaZulu-Natal High Court judge with effect from 1 November 2023, the office said.
Ramaphosa had also appointed Mogomotsi Edwin Molahlehi as Deputy Judge President of the Labour Court and Labour Appeal Court with effect from 1 November 2023 as well, the presidency said.
Kelsey Allen-Yaman has been appointed as a judge of the Labour Court with effect from 1 December 2023, the presidency said.
Madeline Portia Nompi Nkutha-Nkontwana, Katherine Mary Savage, and Neil Daniels and Molatelo Robert Makhura were also named as judges of the Labour Appeal Court with effect from 1 January 2024.
Ramaphosa said the appointments would ensure continuity in the country’s administration of justice at all levels and centres of the judiciary, according to the presidency.
