South African President Cyril Ramaphosa joined other world leaders at the state funeral service for the United Kingdom’s Queen Elizabeth II at Westminster Abbey, London, on Monday.
The monarch, aged 96, ruled the United Kingdom for 70 years.
She died on September 8, just two days after appointing Liz Truss as prime minister of Britain at her summer home in Balmoral Castle, Scotland – one of the four countries that make up the kingdom.
Truss succeeded Boris Johnson who resigned from office after a series of scandals.
The funeral of the country’s longest reigning monarch started at Westminster Abbey and then moved to Windsor Castle, outside the capital London, for an intimate service followed by a private burial.
Ramaphosa, who left South Africa last Thursday for the United States, arrived in London on Sunday from Washington D.C. where he held a successful meeting with US President Joe Biden at the White House on Friday.
The two leaders were among those invited to attend the state funeral service in London.
