The remains of Uganda’s Commissioner of Police Alalo Christine who perished in the Ethiopian Airways have been identified.
Alalo who was working with the African Mission in Somalia (AMISOM), as the Acting Police Commissioner was on board the ill-fated Ethiopian airline ET 302 that crashed in March this year.
Uganda police spokesperson Fred Enanga has confirmed that communication has been sent to the Uganda Police Force, from the Ethiopian government and the Airline Company that Alalo’s remains have been retrieved.
He says that the remains were identified with the help of DNA samples drawn from the deceased’s sons and brothers.
According to Enanga, preparations have commenced to Alalo’s remains repatriated to Uganda for burial.
Police says a team will travel to Addis Ababa to pick the remains between November 5th and 7th, 2019.
“Arrangements are now in place to repatriate the remains to Uganda for burial. The Ethiopian government and Ethiopian airlines are working closely with two brothers. They have already submitted their travel documents,” Enanga said.
157 people died during the Boeing 737 Max aircraft crash on March 10th in the town of Bishoftu, Ethiopia.
Boeing has also announced that it had set up a $50 million fund to compensate victims of Ethiopia crash and another involving a 737 Max in Indonesia last year.
