The Mayor of Boundiali, Mariatou Koné, who is also the Minister of Education and Literacy, has announced the construction of a crafts centre.
The dressmakers, trained by the famous fashion designer Pathé’O, will benefit from training funded entirely by Boundiali City Council, which is positioning itself as a cultural city. The town council has already begun building a Palace of Culture.
At the end of this two-month training course in fashion design and management, a fashion show was organised in Boundiali on Friday 29 December 2023. It was an opportunity for the beneficiaries to showcase their skills.
The fashion show, which took place at the Hôtel Communal, was also the occasion for the Minister and Pathé’O to present certificates of participation to the 36 beneficiaries, including three winners who will represent Boundiali at national and international competitions.
“We learned a lot of things I didn’t know. I’m very proud of this training. We salute our mother cohesion, Minister Mariatou Koné. Thank you for everything you’re doing for Boundiali,” said a delighted Mrs Fofana, one of the lucky beneficiaries of the training.
As part of the training, the Ivorian Minister of National Education and Literacy provided the tailors with industrial machinery to accelerate their technical capacity building.
Professor Mariatou Koné has offered the Côte d’Ivoire Chamber of Trades and Crafts a 1,000-square-metre plot of land on which to build the craft centre, in a bid to turn her community into a craft hub.
