APA-Abidjan (Cote d’Ivoire) Cote d’Ivoire’s new Prime Minister, Robert Beugre Mambe made his first remarks after an audience with President Alassane Ouattara.
On Monday 16 October 2023, President Alassane Ouattara, appointed Robert Beugre Mambe, former Minister and Governor of the Autonomous District of Abidjan, as Prime Minister and head of government.
The president has instructed his new PM to propose a new government as soon as possible.
Ouattara received him in audience shortly after his official appointment.
Before addressing the press, the Ivorian leader asked him to draw up a programme of action, saying “I can count on you.”
Robert Mambetanked God for allowing Ouattara to place his trust in him for the post of Prime Minister, and thanked thim from the “depths” of his heart for appointing him to this “very important position.”
At this special moment, he paid tribute to the memory of his wife Marthe Mambe, who predeceased him.
He also paid tribute to former prime ministers the late Hamed Bakayoko and Amadou Gon Coulibaly, who “gave their all to make Cote d’Ivoire a prosperous country.”
He also paid tribute to all his predecessors who paved the way, recalling that Ouattara himself was the first Prime Minister during the Felix Houphouët-Boigny era, and “did a remarkable job to make Cote d’Ivoire a solid country.”
The new Prime Minister asked God for five things, notably “the faith of Abraham, secondly the courage and closeness of David to all that is divine, and thirdly the wisdom and intelligence of Solomon.”
Fourthly, Robert Mambe asked God for “Joseph’s humility, pugnacity and rigour in dealing with Pharaoh,” and fifthly, he prayed God will “help President Alassane Ouattara to make Cote d’Ivoire a country of prosperity and peace.”
For him, “brotherhood and friendship are the glue that binds us together.”
Robert Mambe succeeds Patrick Achi, former Prime Minister in office since 26 March 2021 following the death of Hamed Bakayoko.
