APA-Johannesburg (South Africa) South Africa’s triumphant rugby team, the Springboks, are expected to return home on Tuesday to a grand welcome at the OR Tambo International Airport following their 12-11 victory against New Zealand’s All Blacks in Paris over the weekend.
With only a day’s rest, the outfit would embark on a nationwide tour to show the Webb Ellis Trophy to thousands of adoring fans in the country’s major cities.
According to the programme, the four-day tour of major population centres of South Africa would kick off in the administrative capital Pretoria and Johannesburg, including Soweto, on Thursday.
The tour would move to Cape Town on Friday, Durban on Saturday, and conclude in East London on Sunday, the programme showed.
The Rugby World Cup’s final took place at the Stade de France in the French capital on Saturday night before a capacity crowd at the 80,000-seat stadium.
President Cyril Ramaphosa attended the final to show support to the team.
