This follows a request by former Minister of Youth Empowerment, Sports and Culture Thapelo Olopeng’s decision to send an SOS to Russia help find a coach for Botswana’s senior soccer national team.
According to a letter dated 25 January 2019 that was addressed to the ministry, the Russian ambassador to Botswana, Victor Ivanovich Sibilec confirmed that his country has acceded to Botswana’s request.
“Following your recent request from the Ministry of Sports from Botswana regarding the assignment of the Russian football coach for training the national team, I’m glad to inform you that Russia has considered this request,” said Sibilev in the letter seen by APA.
The envoy: “The Russian Football Union is ready to propose a relevant candidate for this position if the ministry provides us with information about appropriate conditions his residence in Gaborone.”
