Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will arrive in Addis Ababa on Tuesday for a two-day working visit as part of his five-day trip to four African nations, the Ethiopian government has said.
Lavrov’s planned trip to Africa comes ahead of the Russia-Africa summit that will take place later this year.
The ministry stated that Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will meet senior government officials, members of the diplomatic communities of various countries and officials of the African Union Commission during his stay in Addis Ababa.
Ways of enhancing partnership between Russia and African countries and preparations for the upcoming Africa-Russia Summit will be the key agenda for the discussion, according to the ministry.
“During his stay in Ethiopia, Mr. Lavrov will meet High-level government officials to discuss the longstanding and historical relationship between the two countries,” the Ministry added.
The Minister and the Ethiopian officials plan to review the status of agreements the two countries signed previously.
Lavrov will pay official visits between July 24 and 28 to Egypt, Uganda, Ethiopia and Republic of the Congo, the Russian Embassy in Addis Ababa said.
