Kenya’s President William Ruto is set to officially open the 2024 Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) scheduled to take place next month in the second largest city of Bulawayo, a cabinet minister announced on Tuesday.
Briefing journalists after the weekly cabinet meeting in Harare, Information Minister Jenfan Muswere said Ruto would be the guest of honour during the opening ceremony for the trade fair on April 26.
“The fair will be officially opened by the President of the Republic of Kenya, His Excellency William Ruto,” the minister said.
He revealed that the trade fair had, as of March 21, attracted 466 exhibitors, with 65 participating for the first time.
He said private sector players from at least 21 countries have confirmed participation at ZITF 2024, which is expected to run from April 23-27 under the theme “Innovation: The Catalyst for Industrialisation and Trade”.
The ZITF is Zimbabwe’s premier trade exhibition held annually to showcase the trade and investment opportunities available in the country.
The exhibition would run concurrently with an investment conference in the same city on April 24 to be opened by Zimbabwe’s Vice President Constantino Chiwenga.
