APA-Kigali (Rwanda) Rwanda’s cabinet meeting chaired by President Paul Kagame has approved the agreement on the elimination of double taxation with respect to taxes on income and the prevention of tax evasion and its affiliated protocol with Benin.
According to the resolutions from the Cabinet meeting seen by APA Wednesday, the approval of the Agreement and its affiliated protocol will effectively reduce the tax burden of taxpayers investing in either country and further facilitate bilateral economic and trade cooperation.
Earlier last month, President Paul Kagame and his Benin counterpart Patrice Talon witnessed the signing of cooperation agreements in the fields of defense and security, research, double taxation avoidance, digitization, agriculture, local governance, sustainable development, and renewed their agreements on trade and economic cooperation.
Benin and Rwanda already had existing cooperation in sectors of ICT, trade, urban planning and land management, and have signed a visa waiver agreement and a cooperation agreement in granite and marble
exploitation.
The two countries agreed that a joint permanent commission meeting will be hosted in Cotonou before the end of 2023.
