Rwandan Foreign Affairs Minister Richard Sezibera on Tuesday confirmed the recent arrest of the spokesperson of the so called National Forces for the Liberation of Rwanda (FLN), Maj. Callixte Nsabimana a.k.a Sankara who was deported recently from the Comoros Island.
The Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB) has already confirmed it is detaining the suspect, while processing his criminal case file.
The statement issued on Tuesday said that Nsabimana has been wanted over several offences committed on Rwandan soil.
It said that these crimanl offenses include forming an irregular armed group, complicity in committing terrorist acts, conspiracy and incitement to commit terrorist acts, taking persons hostage; murder; and looting.
Nsabimana’s case file will be submitted to the National Public Prosecution Authority in accordance with Rwandan criminal procedure law, according to RIB.
Earlier this month, Rwanda sends congratulatory messages to Comoros Islands’s zali Assoumani on re-election victory.
The congratulatory message was sent after reports surfaced indicating two Rwandans – genocide fugitive and rebel leader, were arrested in Comoros island pending for their extradition to their native country.
It said that among the arrested it includes the spokesperson of Rwanda’s new rebel group, National Liberation Force (NLF) Calixte Sankara who has reportedly been captured ealier this week by security agents in the Island’s capital city Moroni.
This rebel group which emerged mid last year declared war on Rwanda and has since been involved in insecurity acts in jungles of Nyungwe in the south of Rwanda.
