APA – Kigali (Rwanda) – Rwandan President Paul Kagame met in Kigali with visiting Cuban Vice President Salvador Valdes , with both sides pledging to deepen cooperation and friendship between the two countries.
APA learnt Tuesday that Cuban leader’s two-day official visit to Rwanda is in the context of his current tour of the African continent that began on November 14, with Ghana as the first stop.
Early on Monday, Valdes posted on X (former Twitter) – in Spanish: “Rwanda welcomes us (…) with hospitality and respect.
“We appreciate the warm welcome offered by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Vincent Biruta, upon our arrival in this African nation.”
“When meeting on Monday with Kalinda François Xavier, president of the Rwandan Senate, I ratified Cuba’s commitment to strengthening relations between both countries and continuing fostering mutual solidarity and cooperation. The Cuban delegation has received a warm welcome,” Valdés wrote on his X account.
On the same day, Valdes visited the Gisozi Genocide Memorial to pay respects to the victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, before meeting the Senate President.
The official Cuban delegation also includes First Deputy Minister of Public Health Tania Margarita Cruz, and the Deputy Director General of Bilateral Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Angel Villa.
