APA – Kigali (Rwanda) – Japan Ambassador to Rwanda Isao Fukushima and Rwanda’s Inspector General of Police (IGP), Felix Namuhoranye on Thursday discussed potential cooperation in areas of law enforcement towards implementing the consensus on enhancing cooperation between the two nations on law enforcement.
Rwanda and Japan have substantive cooperation across priority sectors of transportation, energy, water and sanitation, agriculture, and education. Other areas of cooperation are ICT, space and geospatial technologies.
Japan’s interventions to Rwanda are through project and non-project grant aid, technical support, program approach and concessional ODA Yen loans.
On February 20, 2023, President Paul Kagame appointed Felix Namuhoranye as the new Rwanda Police Chief, replacing Dan Munyuza who has held the duties since October 2018.
Prior to the appointment, Felix Namuhoranye served as the Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of operations. The mandate of the Inspector General of Police is five years but can be renewed once.
