APA – Kigali (Rwanda) – Rwanda men’s national 3×3 basketball team head coach Moïse Mutokambali has summoned a nine-man roster for the forthcoming FIBA 3×3 World Cup Qualifier 2023 slated for May 6-7 in Israel, sports sources confirmed over the weekend.
The selected players have already started training in Kigali.
Rwanda was placed in Group B alongside Asian giants China and Caribbean nation of Trinidad and Tobago.
In December 2022, Rwanda finished their FIBA 3×3 Africa Cup 2022 campaign in Cairo, Egypt, on an impressive note after grabbing the third place following a 21-17 victory over Tunisia to win a bronze.
It was the first medal the country has ever won in the FIBA 3×3 Africa Cup.
Twelve teams – six in each of men and women categories- will compete for the last three tickets to the FIBA 3×3 World Cup 2023 finals which will take place in Vienna, Austria, from May 30 to June 6.

Olivier Turatsinze, Patrick Ngabonziza, Justin Uwitonze, Nshobozwabyosenumukiza J.J. Wilson, Ndizeye Ndayisaba Dieudone, Hagumintwali Steven, Mutabaruka Victoire, Nkundwa Thierry and Mugalu Mike Lukwanga.
