Rwanda has seen robust growth in tea production, export totalling 539.6 metric tonnes, according to official data released Monday.
Reports indicate that exports revenues reached $ 1,4 million USD with Pakistan, United Kingdom and Egypt ranking on top of the main countries of destination.
Rwanda tea is known for its high quality and is among the best in the world. Some of the best quality teas produced in Rwanda include; black tea, orthodox tea, white tea, green tea, organic tea and spicy tea.
Estimates by Rwanda Development Board (RDB) show that the production of tea has increased steadily, from 60 Metric Tons of tea in 1958 to more than 500 Metric Tons annually today.
Pakistan is one of the largest importers of Rwanda’s tea, with volumes exported to the Asian country accounting for over 40 per cent.
