APA – Kigali (Rwanda) President Paul Kagame has confirmed that Rwanda plans to open an embassy in Hungary in an effort to boost bilateral cooperation, a diplomatic source disclosed Monday in Kigali.
The announcement comes as Hungarian President Katalin Novak visits Rwanda, witnessing the signature of three MoUs between the two countries in the area of education, water and nuclear energy.
As part of the new agreements signed, Hungary will provide a loan to upgrade the Karenge water treatment plant in eastern Rwanda.
Reports indicate that the credit line will also be utilised to build a six-kilometer water supply network while Hungarian companies will contribute to the implementation of the project.
Hungary has very developed water management and water industry technologies. The US$52 million will be used to modernize and extend the capacities of the water treatment plant of Kigali from 15,000 to 36,000 cubic meters on a daily basis.
Novák is also in Rwanda to attend the ongoing Women Deliver Conference.
