APA – Kigali (Rwanda) – Rwanda’s consumer price index rose 11.2% in October 2023 from a year earlier , the National Institute of Statistics reported Friday.
In October 2023, ‘Food and non-alcoholic beverages’ increased by 23.1 percent on annual basis and it was stable on a monthly basis. ‘Alcoholic beverages, tobacco and narcotics’ increased by 8.4 percent on annual basis and it was stable on a monthly basis.
The data also show the “local products” increased by 11.8 percent on annual change and it was stable on monthly basis, while prices of the “imported products” increased by 9.4 percent on annual basis and it increased by 1.2 percent on monthly basis.
The prices of the “fresh products” increased by 26.5 percent on annual change and it decreased by 0.8 percent on a monthly basis.
The prices of the “energy” increased by 2.7 percent on annual change and it increased by 2 percent on monthly basis.
The prices of the “general Index excluding fresh products and energy” increased by 7.4 percent on annual change and it increased by 0.5 percent on monthly basis, the Institute said.
