APA-Cape Town (South Africa) South Africa’s suspended Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane has said a parliamentary committee report that found her “incompetent and unfit to hold office” was unlawful and fraught with illegalities – and would turn to the court for redress.
The committee said it would recommend to the National Assembly that Mkhwebane be removed from her position as public protector.
Mkhwebane vowed that she would stop the report from going to the National Assembly by turning to the courts to stop the committee from trampling on her rights.
“I don’t think I will allow the report to be sent to Parliament in the first place,” the suspended Ombudsman said.
She added: “I will have to exercise my right through the courts.”
