Some 3,255 Covid-19 vaccine doses were dispensed in South Africa on Sunday – bringing the total number of vaccines to 36,020,076, the Ministry of Health has said.
According to the ministry, the highest number of doses were dispensed in the North West province with 1,106 doses, followed by Gauteng with 794 shots and some 554 doses registered in KwaZulu-Natal province.
The ministry also revealed that as of late Sunday afternoon, 50.03 percent of South Africa’s adult population was fully vaccinated.
Meanwhile, South Africa recorded 1,774 new Covid-19 cases on Sunday, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 3,953,967.
This figure was the lowest in weeks, records show.
The country has also reported four deaths, bringing the number to 101,146 fatalities.
