APA-Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso) After Bamako, Niger’s transitional president arrived in Ouagadougou Thursday afternoon.
Captain Ibrahim Traoré rolled out the red carpet for Brigadier General Abdoudramane Tiani, and paid martial tribute to him on his first visit to the country of ‘Men of Integrity’ since taking power in July 2023.
According to the Burkinabe Presidency, the two leaders then held talks on issues common to Burkina and Niger, notably the fight against terrorism and socio-economic development.
“This visit enabled the two heads of state to exchange views on the prospects for strengthening the excellent bilateral cooperation and that between the three countries of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES),” the communications department explained.
General Tiani also took the opportunity to express his gratitude, and that of the people of Niger, to the Burkinabe authorities for their many forms of support, when Niger was facing threats of intervention from the Economic Community of West African States.
Prior to Burkina, the head of the junta in Niger made an earlier visit to Mali, where he held a working session with his counterpart Assimi Goita.
