APA-Dakar (Senegal) Africa Global Logistics or AGL has been taking part in the seventh edition of SIM Senegal, which began on October 3rd and ended on Thursday October 5th in Diamniadio, a few kilometres outside the Senegalese capital Dakar.
This event, which usually attracts thousands of participants, has established itself as one of the leading mining events in West Africa, bringing together key players in the sector, such as mining companies, government representatives, experts, and specialised companies, to discuss the industry’s future.
AGL, as a major player in mining logistics in Africa has been presenting its solutions for the development of mining on the continent.
”The company stands out for its extensive network covering 47 countries in Africa, enabling it to offer land, rail, sea and port transport solutions virtually everywhere, even in the most remote regions, particularly on mining sites often located in areas that are difficult to access” said a statement from the company to APA.
It said for over 30 years, AGL has benefited from solid expertise in this industry, thanks to what it called its specialised teams dedicated to the sector’s problems.
The company works with a wide range of players, including mine owners and engineering companies, providing solutions tailored to each stage of their project, whether in the construction phase or in the supply chain operations linked to mining.
During the forum, AGL, through its subsidiaries AGL Mali and AGL Senegal has been hosting a stand to present its comprehensive range of services for the development of the sector.
Mining logistics experts from AGL’s head office in France were also on hand to discuss the company’s commitments to the industry, particularly in the energy transition context, which requires a more responsible approach from all players.
The company will also be outlining its commitment to local development, mainly through its “local content” contracts, which have a significant social impact on the development of mining projects in Africa.
“We are delighted to be taking part in SIM Senegal 2023. It’s an opportunity for us to better understand the challenges and needs of our customers, so that we can offer them tailored solutions. We are committed to responding specifically to the expectations of each sector to become their preferred logistics partner. In the mining sector, we are working to integrate sustainable and eco-responsible solutions and we are developing “local content” initiatives in the context of mining, in order to train and support young people. It is an imperative and a source of pride for us to have a positive and tangible impact”, said Mr. Mohamed Abdoulaye Diop, Regional Director of AGL Africa Atlantic.
AGL’s Senegal branch is the leading integrated logistics network in the country, employing nearly 1,000 workers at its outposts in Dakar, Kaolack and Kidira, and operates in the fields of freight forwarding, shipping agency, consignment, port handling and multimodal logistics.
A specialist in logistics and major industrial and mining projects, AGL Senegal is also an expert in the transport of heavy packages and exceptional convoys, and in value-added warehousing.
The company offers a diversified range of services and represents a support base for countries in the sub-region, within the framework of structuring projects and playing a key role in opening up countries.
