Journalist Abdourahmane Diallo won the investigative journalism prize organised by renowned journalism school, CESTI, in collaboration with Oxfam Senegal, on Wednesday.
This comes five days after photographer Assane Guèye’s award in the Convention of Young Reporters of Senegal (CJRS)competition.
Both are members of the African Press Agency (APAnews).
Trained at the Center for the Study of Information Science and Technology (CESTI), Diallo was awarded for his report published in May 2024. It focused on the preparation of Senegal, a new oil and gas producing country, in the field of strategic environmental and social assessment (SESA). This work won first prize in the investigative journalism competition organised by this institution under the Cheikh Anta Diop University in Dakar, in partnership with Oxfam Senegal.
The same report also won second prize in the CJRS competition last Friday. This further confirms the journalistic talents of Abdourahmane Diallo, already a winner of several other awards over the past three years.
Gueye was crowned best photographer of the year 2024 at the CJRS. The jury, composed of seasoned photographers, particularly appreciated his portrait of MP Guy Marius Sagna. The photo captures the moment when the anti-imperialist encountered gendarmes to prevent him from taking the ballot paper during the installation of the fourteenth legislature in September 2022.
