The Senegalese leader on Friday announced the launch of a special prize of the President of the Republic for the best technological and industrial innovation for military and paramilitary purposes.
The new Senegalese authorities aspire to make the country a model of sovereignty, particularly in the field of defense.
In this context, President Bassirou Diomaye Faye wishes to reward the best technological and industrial innovation dedicated to the military and paramilitary sector through a special prize.
“I am also pleased to announce that during the next Armed Forces Days, a special prize from the President of the Republic will be awarded to the best technological and industrial innovation for military and paramilitary purposes,” he said during the Armed Forces Day, celebrated on Friday under the theme: “Towards the technological and industrial sovereignty of the Armed Forces.”
For President Faye, the creation of a real defense and security industry is now an imperative to strengthen the professionalism and influence of the Senegalese armed forces, which have demonstrated their commitment for more than 60 years.
He expressed his willingness to use national skills, particularly those of Senegalese researchers,
engineers, inventors and craftsmen, to achieve this goal.
“The Ministry of Armed Forces and the Ministry of Industry and Trade signed yesterday (Thursday) an important memorandum of understanding with a partner company for the implementation of a project to install
and operate a military vehicle assembly plant in Senegal,” said Bassirou Diomaye Faye, adding that Senegal, while continuing its quest for sovereignty, remains open to external cooperation.
