The electric revolution is coming to Dakar with Loxea, a subsidiary of CFAO Mobility, which has introduced 100 percent electric BYD vehicles in Senegal. The BYD showroom in Ngor Almadies will soon offer three models: the Atto3 SUV, available immediately, followed by the Dolphin and Dolphin mini in the coming weeks.
Loxea doesn’t just offer these vehicles for long-term rental or purchase. The company offers a complete range of services, from the installation of charging stations to maintenance and solar power generation solutions.
As part of this innovative approach, CFAO Mobility is partnering with TotalEnergies in Senegal. Two latest-generation charging stations will be installed: one at the BYD showroom in Ngor Almadies, the other at the TotalEnergies station on the Autoroute. Customers will also be able to have charging stations installed at their homes or businesses thanks to Green Infra, a subsidiary of the CFAO Group.
According to its promoters, the Atto3 SUV, which is already available, has a range of 420 km. This can be extended to 450 km. Recharging takes less than an hour and the vehicle comes with a 5-year or 150,000 km warranty.
“We are proud to be the first in Senegal to offer this type of electric vehicle and all the services associated with it. Loxea’s ambition is to become a one-stop shop for the entire electromobility ecosystem in the country. The arrival of these vehicles in Senegal is a perfect illustration of this turning point in the energy transition. Our role is to support this transition and facilitate their use,” said Pascal Louchelart, Managing Director of CFAO Mobility in Senegal.
Badara Mbacké, Managing Director of TotalEnergies Marketing Senegal, is delighted with this collaboration, which marks a turning point in the development of electric mobility in Senegal.
“As a major player in the distribution of energy products and related services in Senegal, and with the desire to support all our customers in their energy transition, we are delighted to be associated with this CFAO Mobility initiative, which marks a turning point in the development of electromobility in Senegal. To achieve this, we can rely on the expertise and know-how of TotalEnergies, which has already deployed charging stations in many countries on the continent,” he explained.
Baba Dramé, Director of Environmental Regulation and Control at the Ministry of the Environment, Sustainable Development and Ecological Transition, welcomed the initiative, which is “part of the effort to green our economy”.
He reiterated the government’s willingness to work with all stakeholders in the ecosystem to offer sustainable mobility solutions to the people of Senegal.
