APA-Dakar (Senegal) – Senegal is the 27th African country to use the monitoring and evaluation tool for projects financed by the continental banking institution.
The African Development Bank (AfDB) wants to be effective in its operations on the continent. To this end, it has implemented an IT solution for the remote supervision, monitoring and evaluation (RASME) of its development projects. The tool has already been implemented in 26 countries and is currently being used in Senegal, where user training was launched on Monday in Dakar.
“RASME is an IT solution that uses information and communication technologies (ICT) to optimize data collection, analysis, and management in the preparation, evaluation, and monitoring of Bank projects,” said Mohamed Chérif, AfDB Country Manager in Senegal.
Noting that the solution will be made available to all project stakeholders, both on the Bank’s side and in the government ministries concerned, Mr. Cherif explained that RASME will enable the collection of accurate and reliable data using mobile devices.
This data, according to Gaspard Dodo, consultant and trainer, will then be uploaded into the IT solution’s system and can be verified and analyzed by each project’s stakeholders.
“By using this solution, the Bad will improve the collection and storage of data related to projects in areas that are often inaccessible or remote, including those with logistical problems. It will also be able to monitor and evaluate the overall performance of its projects,” said Gaspard Dodo.
