The state of health disaster in Senegal will be lifted on March 19, an official statement shared with APA suggests.

“The President of the Republic announces (…) the end of the state of health disaster on March 19, 2021 at midnight,” a Council of Ministers said on Wednesday in a statement.
According to the statement, President Macky Sall indicates said against the backdrop of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, he was keen on the prompt resumption of night work and the revival of economic activities in the country.
To curb the spread of the coronavirus, President Sall on January 22, 2021 declared a state of health disaster in the regions of Dakar and Thies, which are described as the epicenters of the pandemic.
To date, Senegal has recorded 36,371 cases of Covid-19, including 31,675 recoveries and 941 deaths.
Some 68,205 people have been vaccinated since the launch on February 23 of the national immunization campaign.
