The President of Senegal, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, received Mikhail Bogdanov, Special Representative of the President of
Russia for the Middle East and Africa, at the Palace of the Republic on Wednesday, July 10.
During the meeting, Mr. Bogdanov delivered the message from the Russian President Vladimir Putin to his Senegalese counterpart.
According to the communication services of the Senegalese Presidential Palace, the discussions between the two leaders focused mainly on strengthening bilateral cooperation between Senegal and Russia.
The Tass press agency quoted the statement from the Russian Foreign Ministry as saying that Mr. Bogdanov and the Senegalese Head of State discussed joint projects in the energy, mining and mineral processing sectors.
“The tasks of increasing the volume of trade, economic and investment partnerships, improving the legal framework and implementing promising joint projects in the fields of geological exploration, mining and mineral processing, energy, fisheries and agriculture were also carefully examined,” said the Russian Foreign Ministry in the statement.
The Russian envoy met with Senegal’s Minister for African Integration and Foreign Affairs, Yassine Fall, after his meeting with the Senegalese leader and they discussed “strengthening of friendly Russian-Senegalese ties”.
The Russian Foreign Ministry disclosed that the discussions also focused on deepening political dialogue based on trust, and strengthening the coordination of principled positions on current international and regional issues at the United Nations and on other multilateral platforms.
