Senegal’s Constitutional Council on Wednesday announced the final results of the snap legislative elections held on November 17 confirming Pastef’s victory.
The announcement marks the official conclusion of the electoral process which culminated in Senegalese citizens electing National Assembly members.
According to the press release received by APA on Wednesday, the poll was marked by a high level of citizen participation, reflecting the commitment of the Senegalese people to determine the composition of their legislature for the next five years.
The results, validated by the Constitutional Council, confirm the trends observed during the initial announcements and consolidate the country’s political landscape.
Senegal’s Constitutional Council confirmed the overwhelming victory of the Pastef party in the early parliamentary elections held on November 17, 2024, with 130 of the 165 seats in parliament.
This victory consolidates the position of the political formation led by the current Prime Minister, Ousmane Sonko, as the main force in the National Assembly.
With a comfortable majority at the end of the vote, Pastef is strengthening its political base and preparing to steer the major legislative reforms announced as part of its program.
The Constitutional Council validated the results, which reflect the renewed confidence of the electorate in the party and illustrate a significant mobilization in favor of its political project.
The final results also underline a reshuffling of the cards within the hemicycle, where opposing parties will have to contend with the dominance of Pastef, which is now in a position to lead parliamentary debates and drive a new legislative dynamic.
The Constitutional Council, while validating the results, praised the serenity and transparency of the electoral process, once again reinforcing Senegal’s reputation as a model of democracy in Africa.
