Addressing the summit on Monday, September 23rd, President Faye emphasized the urgent need to tackle extreme poverty. He warned that if current trends persist, 575 million people will still be living in extreme poverty by 2030. Turning to global governance, President Faye acknowledged recent progress but called for the full inclusion of developing countries in international bodies. He also stressed the importance of investing in education and vocational training as a means of combating inequalities and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
Faye concluded his speech by highlighting the significance of connectivity and digitalization for the future of young people. He urged that they be at the forefront of decision-making and development efforts.
