The groundnut marketing campaign officially began on December 5, in Senegal with the National Society for the Marketing of Oleaginous Seeds of Senegal (SONACOS) aiming to collect 300,000 tonnes for its factories this year, with a minimum price per kilo set at 305 CFA francs.
SONACOS has set itself the target of collecting 300,000 tonnes of groundnuts, one of the country’s most important cash crops for this marketing campaign.
Its Director General, El Hadji Ndane Diagne, who spoke on Thursday in Louga (North) during the official launch of the marketing campaign for this oilseed, expressed confidence in the ability of SONACOS’ to reach the desired quantity of groundnut seeds with the help of the contractors involved in the collection.
“Any truck that arrives with groundnut will be offloaded quickly and payment will be made without delay. We have started offloading. We have recruited staff to speed up operations and meet the high demand,” the Senegalese Press Agency (APS).quoted Mr Diagne as saying
