The country’s Petroleum Directorate (PDSL) has signed on as a partner for the upcoming African Energy Week (AEW) conference in Cape Town this November.
This partnership marks a significant moment for Sierra Leone’s energy sector. It demonstrates the country’s commitment to forging international partnerships and showcasing its oil and gas potential. Sierra Leone recently concluded its fifth licensing round, attracting interest from major players. The PDSL will use AEW as a platform to update attendees on ongoing exploration efforts and highlight investment opportunities.
Three companies have already pre-qualified for exploration and production licenses, a sign of renewed interest in Sierra Leone’s upstream sector. The country boasts several promising discoveries, despite limited drilling to date.
NJ Ayuk, Executive Chairman of the African Energy Chamber, praised Sierra Leone’s efforts to create a business-friendly climate for investors.
