On the occasion of the First Ministerial Conference of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum, which opened in Sochi on Sunday, Senegalese Minister of Higher Education and Innovation Abdourahmane Diouf highlighted his country’s technological needs and desire to diversify its partnerships, particularly with Russia.
In an interview with Russian media RT, Diouf, highlighted Senegal’s technological needs in key areas such as artificial intelligence, digital, nuclear physics and space.
The minister, who is representing his colleague in charge of African integration and foreign affairs at the First Ministerial Conference of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum in Sochi, said that enhanced cooperation with Russia would enable a beneficial transfer of technologies and skills for Senegal’s development in these sectors.
The minister also spoke about the new development program up to 2050 introduced by the new Senegalese government headed by President Bassirou Diomaye Faye.
This program is aimed at diversifying Senegal’s partnerships, as Dakar no longer wants to focus on a single country, but wants to develop balanced relations and dialogue with all its partners, including Russia.
According to Diouf, this new era of egalitarian cooperation will allow each country to make the most of its opportunities, marking the end of the era of colonization.
“We are entering an era of egalitarian cooperation in which each country will be able to make the most of the situation,” he noted.
