Kiir had to cut short his two- week trip to Bahr al Ghazal in order to meet Eritrea’s President Isaias Afwerki and Ethiopia’s Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed in Juba on Monday.
The tripartite meetings in the capital Juba focused on economic cooperation and infrastructure as well as ways to advance regional integration.
Resuming the tour on Tuesday Kirr assured his compatriots of his unflinching commitment to peace.
Mayiik Ayii Deng, Minister in the Office of the President, said Kiir returned to the town of Wau to attend a security meeting at the government secretariat.
Mayiik further said President Kiir would address a public rally in Wau town before leaving for Kwajok, the capital of Gogrial state (former Warap state).
“The president will also preach the message of peace there,” he said.
In September last year, Kiir and several opposition leaders, including Riek Machar, signed a power-sharing deal promising an end to the South Sudanese civil war that killed tens of thousands of people and displaced millions.
A new unity government is expected to assume power in May 2019 before elections are held three years later.
