Spanish Agriculture Minister Luis Planas, who is scheduled to visit Rabat on Friday, reaffirmed Spain’s unwavering support for Morocco’s position on the Sahara issue and its desire to continue and intensify the strategic partnership.
While the CJEU’s ruling has raised concerns in Spain, particularly in the southern region of Andalusia, Planas emphasized that the EU will comply with the court’s decision and work to renegotiate trade and fisheries agreements with Morocco.
Spain’s stance reflects its recognition of the importance of its relationship with Morocco and its commitment to maintaining a positive and stable partnership despite legal challenges. The CJEU’s ruling, while significant, does not alter the fundamental nature of the bilateral relationship between Spain and Morocco.
