The implementation of tax relief for health workers, positive impact of the lockdown in the fight against coronavirus pandemic and Covid-19 confirmed cases in Ghana dominate the headlines of Ghanaian newspapers on Friday.
The Daily Graphic reported that the Controller and Accountant General has implemented the three months’ tax relief granted to all health workers as directed by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo in his recent night broadcast to the nation on Covid-19 disease.
It added that the Acting Controller and Accountant General, Mr. Kwasi Kwaning Bosompem, indicated that the tax reliefs would accordingly reflect in the three months of April, May and June, 2020 with additional allowance of 50% of their basic salary per month for the period as well as insurance package of 350,000 Cedis (about $636) for each health worker.
The newspaper also gave prominence to the positive impact the lockdown exercise is making in the fight against Covid-19 and reported that the Information Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, has said that the current restriction on movements imposed by President Nana Addo had been a huge success in the fight against coronavirus in the country.
It explained that the partial lockdown imposed almost three weeks ago has helped in halting the spread of the disease and facilitated picking out infected persons among the populace.
