Three people have been shot dead ostensibly by Ethiopian security forces after taking to the streets over a water shortage crisis in the town of Wolkite.
Witnesses say anti-riot troops had fired into a crowds of protesters in the town in southern Ethiopia on Wednesday, resulting in fatalities.
Residents of the town have been battling water shortage for the past few months and took their activism to the water department where they were reportedly met with force.
A few of the protesters were injured.
There has been no word from the authorities.
