Tiemoko Meyliet Kone has been appointed Ivorian VP by President Alassane Ouattara.
The appointment of the current governor of the Central Bank of African States (BCEAO) was made on Tuesday April 19.
The Ivorian president made the announcement before parliament meeting on Tuesday at the Félix Houphouët-Boigny Foundation.
The vice presidency is a newly created positiion according to the 2016 constitution, making its occupant, the constitutional successor to the president.
Meyliet Kone replaces former PM Daniel Kablan Duncan who resigned from the post in July 2021 just days after the death of former Prime Minister Amadou Gon Coulibaly.
