The Tunisian electoral body calls on all political actors and citizens to fully engage in the electoral process, respect the rules and contribute to a climate of confidence and serenity.
The Independent High Electoral Instance (ISIE) Wednesday issued a solemn warning against the falsification of sponsorships for the 2024 presidential elections. This warning comes as the electoral process enters a crucial phase with high democratic stakes for the country.
The ISIE has announced that Tunisian voters will be able to check whether or not they have sponsored a presidential candidate using the special code 195*N°CIN#. This measure aims to guarantee the transparency and integrity of the electoral process by allowing each citizen to ensure that their support has not been misappropriated or used without their knowledge.
In an official statement, the electoral body urged voters to be vigilant and not to be swayed by unfounded rumours. It also reiterated that it would take all necessary regulatory measures to punish fraudsters and protect the integrity of the ballot.
The ISIE stressed the importance of citizen vigilance in this sensitive electoral context. “We call on all voters to carefully check their sponsors and report any anomalies,” a spokesman for the body said, believing that “the active and informed participation of citizens is essential to guarantee free and transparent elections.”
The warning comes as allegations of fake sponsorships began circulating on social media, raising concerns about the credibility of the electoral process. The ISIE has reiterated that any attempt at electoral fraud will be severely punished in accordance with the laws in force.
To prevent any attempt at falsification, the ISIE has strengthened its monitoring and control teams to detect and prevent any attempt at falsification. Special training courses were held for election officials to make them aware of fraud techniques and how to counter them effectively.
The Tunisian electoral body reiterated its determination to combat all forms of electoral fraud.
“We will not tolerate any attempt to manipulate the electoral process,” said the head of the body. “Fraudsters will be prosecuted and punished in accordance with the law.”
