Twelve of the thirteen protesters arrested in N’Djamena for defying a ban on demonstrations against Chad’s protracted gas shortage have been freed,APA can report from a judicial source on Monday.
The detained protesters regained their freedom after the public prosecutor scrapped the cases against them.
While the N’Djaména High Court Prosecutor’s Office has not brought any charges against the twelve defendants, mainly artists, including two women, the novelist Zenaba Dinguest and former radio presenter Racky Diallo, the thirteenth, Tokama Kemaye, is still being held.
He is being held for what civil society activists say is the purpose of investigation.
Butane gas, which had been scarce for a long time, is now available on the market, putting an end to the plight of N’Djaména’s residents.
