The return to their homeland will take place on Wednesday July 12, 2023, by land from Noe, on the southern border with Ghana, from 1pm (GMT, local time), announces the PPA-CI, the party of former Ivorian president Laurent Gbagbo.
In a note published Monday, July 10, 2023, the secretary general of the African Peoples’ Party – Ivory Coast (PPA-CI), Damana Pickass, informs that the musical artists, Serges Kassy and François Kency, after more than ten years of exile, are returning to Cote d’Ivoire.
Damana Pickass assures us that all measures have been taken to ensure “a safe and peaceful return.” He justifies this move by Laurent Gbagbo’s party, insinuating that “the PPA-CI has always paid particular attention to the issue of Ivorian exiles and has mobilized on the occasion of the return of each wave of exiles.”
The General Secretary of PPA-CI therefore called on the party’s leadership, its organs and commissions, as well as its militants and Ivorians in general, to give them a “warm welcome that befits these valiant sons of the country and the artistic world.”
According to the reception protocol, Serges Kassy and François Kency, after setting foot on Ivorian soil, will proceed to the party’s headquarters at Riviera 3 from 4pm, where an official reception is scheduled to be organized by the party’s management.
Serges Kassy and François Kency, two committed artists, had left Cote d’Ivoire following the serious post-electoral crisis of 2010-2011, which, according to the authorities, left over 3,000 people dead across the country.
