The U.S. Embassy in Morocco has welcomed Aimee Cutrona as its new Chargé d’Affaires, succeeding Ambassador Puneet Talwar.
Cutrona, a seasoned diplomat with experience in various countries, will oversee U.S.-Morocco relations as the two nations continue to strengthen their strategic partnership.
Cutrona’s appointment comes at a time of significant diplomatic activity, following the recent Senate confirmation hearing of the nominee for Secretary of State. During his hearing, the nominee reaffirmed the United States’ recognition of Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara, a position that remains a cornerstone of the bilateral relationship.
Morocco and the United States share a long history, with Morocco being the first country to recognize U.S. independence in 1777. This strong foundation has evolved into a strategic partnership encompassing security, trade, and economic cooperation.
As Chargé d’Affaires, Cutrona will play a critical role in advancing this partnership, building upon the successes achieved under Ambassador Talwar.
