The United Arab Emirates government has donated a set of doses of COVID-19 vaccine and medica kits to Rwanda, an official source confirmed to APA Saturday in Kigali.
The kits that were received consisted Covid-19 vaccines, medical beds, personal protective equipment, coveralls and ventilators to speed up the Covid-19 pandemic fight, according to Dr Daniel Ngamije, the Rwandan Minister of Health.
Commenting on the donation, Hazza Alqahtani, the UAE ambassador to Rwanda reiterated that this donation is a symbol of good ties between his country and Rwanda.
“This is evidence that UAE stands with Rwanda, be it the administration or population side and during all sorts of situations, good or bad, we shall stand together,” he said.
The donation is expected to be a major boost to Rwanda’s commitment to vaccinate at least 60 per cent of the population by the end of 2022.
Official estimates indicate that Rwanda has so far vaccinated 423,182 people from Covid-19, as of Saturday
The country has confirmed 62,328 of which 44,739 have recovered and 718 have lost the battle.
The number of people in critical condition is now 76 while active cases are 15, 725.
