34 Congolese citizens taken hostage by the Ugandan rebels of the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) have been rescued and handed over to neihbouring Democratic Republic of Congo, APA can report from Kinshasa on Monday.
UPDF land forces commander, Lt Gen Kayanja Muhanga and the DR Congo army commander of the Antoine Sector Brig Gen Gbiagolo Ngondo presided over the handing over.
The Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) said on Saturday that it had rescued the Congolese captives who included women and children in an ongoing military operation against ADF rebels in eastern DR Congo.
The UPDF’s pursuit of ADF rebels is being dubbed Operation Shujaa t minimise their threat on Uganda.
